The Pokanoket Tribe at the Audubon Education Center

Members of the Pokanoket Tribe presented their history and traditions to people at the Audubon Education Center in Bristol, RI, on June 15, 2019, at an event sponsored by the Rhode Island Council on the Humanities. Click here for a 50-minute video of the event.

  

(Above) Sagamore William Guy described the history of the Tribe from the time of Verranzzano in 1524 to the present day, noting that he succeeded Princes Red Wing, the most recent woman Sachem.
