The Pokanoket Tribe at Camp Wetu, Mount Hope Farm, Bristol, RI

(Above) Pokanoket Sachem Dancing Star greets Camp Wetu campers in the barn at Mount Hope Farm in Bristol. Click here for a 26-minute video.

 

Dancing Star tells campers Tribal history going back to the time of the Mayflower when the Massasoit Osamequin met the Pilgrims in Plymouth.

   

The Pokanoket men drum out a number of traditional songs while the campers participate in a round dance.

   

Dancing Star tells more traditional stories at the request of the campers.

   

At the end of the program, campers get to examine and ask questions about the artifacts that the Tribe brought with them.
