(Above) On June 16, 2019, National Park Service Ranger John McNiff presented Roger Williams as he may have appeared almost 400 years ago at the place he settled in 1636. Click here for a 52-minute video of his presentation and here for an 18-minute video of the Q & A that followed.
(Above) McNiff tells the Williams’ story from his point of view and with his native English accent as Linde and Bob McMullen and Cheryl and Jeff Faria listen.
(Above) McNiff describes Williams’ life in England before he comes to New England where he befriends the Natives and defies the English authorities.
The event ends with a walk to the Weybosset Bridge where Williams served briefly as toll taker in 1660 and a visit to the Visitors’ Center on North Main Street.
