
A five-session course on King Philip’s War in New England was developed for the Lifelong Learning Collaborative and presented over the month of February, 2025 by Sowams Heritage Area Project Coordinator and LLC member David Weed and member Dr. Penny Donnehy. Each session consisted of a slide talk followed by a class discussion of the material covered. (Above) Dr. Weed began the first sesson by covering the conditions prior to, and the causes of, the War in this 88-minute video.



(Above) In the second session, Weed described the outbreak of the War in Swansea in June, 1675 in this 57-minute session.



(Above) In the third session, Weed went through each of the major raids that occurred in the War in this 67-minute session.



(Above) Dr. Dennehy described the course of the War that occurred in Maine between 1676 and 1678 in this 42-minute session.
