Campers examine the inscription on the stone memorial that describes the leader of the Pokanoket Tribe who met the Pilgrims at Plymouth in 1621 and signed a treaty that helped to keep the peace for over fifty years.

Campers look over a handout that describes the history of Burr’s Hill before Dr. Weed passes around a possible Native stone tool similar to those that were found near the burial ground in the early 1900s.

Dr. Weed tells the story of the people who lived successfully in the area for over 10,000 years by adapting to the land and water where they hunted and gathered the food that sustained them.
