A dozen members of the Pokanoket Tribe offered a one-hour presentation of tribal culture and history at the Rogers Free Library in Bristol, RI. Lee “Brave Heart” and Harry “Hawk” Edmonds performed some traditional dances and offered a tobacco prayer in their native Algonkian language at the beginning of the hour. Rainbow Heart and other Tribe members led a friendship dance with everyone moving in a circle around the room and told a traditional story about strawberries. The program concluded with more dancing to the Tribal drum and an opportunity to look over Tribal artifacts. Click here for a 45-minute video of the presentation.
