Neighbors and City officials gathered at Prospect Terrace on June 18, 2019 where a statue of Roger Williams overlooks downtown Providence to celebrate the restoration of the Terrance and the 80th anniversary of the reburial of Roger Williams remains at the park. City Parks and Recreation Superintendent Wendy Nilsson welcomed about 75 people to the event after the 88th Army Band of the Rhode Island National Guard began the program with a selection of patriotic numbers, followed by the Eastern Medicine Singers introduced by Raymond Two Hawks Watson. Providence Mayor Jorge Elorza who shared his memories of Prospect Terrace and the statue of Roger Williams over the years and his appreciation for Nilsson’s work in improving parks throughout the City. City Councilwoman Helen Anthony acknowledged the contribution that the friends and neighbors of Prospect Terrace made to bring the park back to life, and former City Councilor Sam Zurier and Rick Champagne, Secretary of the College Hill Neighborhood Association, thanked all those who contributed to the restoration of the Terrace. National Park Service Ranger John McNiff gave a moving testimony about the contribution of Roger Williams at the end of the program before the Vox Hunter singers.entertain the audience with songs from the period when the Terrace was first constructed.
