The “Our” Story: 400 Years of Wampanoag History Exhibit, was displayed at the Stephen Roberts ’62 Campus Center on the Brown University campus  in Providence from April 15th to May 5th, 2019. The traveling exhibit tells the story of the Pilgrims who landed in Plymouth in 1620 in the Native voice. “It was designed to bring to light key legacies of America’s earliest beginnings from the Wampanoag perspective, a voice largely silenced in the colonial narrative.” The exhibit was set up on the lower floor of the Stephen Roberts ’62 Campus Center at 75 Waterman Street on the Brown University campus in Providence, RI. One three-minute video in the interactive exhibit tells the story of the Mayflower from the Native perspective. Another three-minute video in the interactive exhibit portrays the Massasoit Ousamequan as he might have reflected on the changes that the Pilgrims brought to his tribe. Other videos that can be seen on the Plymouth 400 website one about the deaths of 90 percent of the Native population prior to their landing in 1620 that the Pilgrims took as a sign from God that the land had been prepared for them. Other videos describe the capture and enslavement of Native men, the capture and escape of Epanow, and the great messenger runners.
